SOME OF OUR FREQUENTLY ASKED
• Where are you based?
We are based in Chilton, County Durham. A town between Durham and Darlington.
• Are you limited to weddings in the North East area?
Simple answer… No. Teesside, Middlesbrough, Stockton, Darlington, York, Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham, Northumberland, Whitby among other local towns are all within a short drive. However, we are in no way limited to these areas. We have always worked nationwide and will always enjoy traveling around our wonderful country. Especially the Lake District. We are also available for destination weddings.
• What is your deposit and when is the final balance due?
We like to make our service as smooth as possible, £100 secures your date once the booking proposal is complete and the remaining balance is due 5 weeks before your wedding date. Deposits are non refundable
• Can I book without paying the deposit?
Unfortunately, NO. We work on a first come first booked basis. We never hold dates for anyone not even close friends or relatives, everyone is treated equally. Your deposit shows your commitment to us and secures your date. Deposits are non refundable
• We would like to pay early, is this possible?
Usually final balance payments are made 5 weeks before the wedding, however, we do allow you to pay off your balance whenever is convenient for you.
• Will we hear from you leading up to the wedding?
You will receive emails and other various communication from us along the way, so you know we haven’t forgotten about you, which is very important to us. We will meet approximately 6 weeks before the wedding for a pre-wedding chat in order to confirm and create a timeline of the day and answer any questions.
• How do I receive my photos?
We always Include full resolution digital copies of your photographs with every wedding. You will receive all your photos in our beautiful complimentary walnut USB Box with a small selection of 6x4 prints. The USB Box is part of our branded Exit Package filled with little touches. You will also receive a personalised Online Gallery which is private and allows your friends, family and other guests the opportunity to download Low-Resolution photos without you needing to worry about distributing photos yourself. You will receive approximately 600+ full resolution Images for you to enjoy & keep forever.
• When will my photographs be delivered?
We always aim to deliver the final Images within 21 days of the wedding. During very busy times of the year (June - August) It may take us a little longer I.e. 28 days, however, most of our couples are still totally fine with a 3 week wait. We do aim for less than 21 days as a rule. We strive to edit a few photos as sneak peaks for social media within a couple of days of the wedding, however, this cannot always be guaranteed due to our busy schedule.
• Are the Images I receive protected by copyright?
Simple answer YES. The copyright always remains with the photographer. You as the client receive Limited Usage Rights.
You CAN… Print your images, we include a print release in your exit package. Post online to social media and share with friends + family.
You CANNOT… Alter the images in any way, this includes adding Facebook/Instagram filters. The images are professionally edited to look their best and convey our brand. Adding filters to the images may negatively impact our future business.
You are also not allowed to use your images for any commercial usage. This includes delivering images to your suppliers/venue for them to use commercially in their promotion/marketing strategies.
• Can I supply my photos to suppliers?
Yes, but there are limitations.
• You can provide suppliers images but they MUST have our logo in the corner.
• Using your online gallery suppliers can download low-resolution images with our logo in the corner. Send them the link.
• Your suppliers must NOT crop out our logo from any photo.
• Your suppliers may use the images on social media ONLY and MUST include the logo and where possible TAG us.
• Your suppliers may wish to use the images on their website or in other print marketing materials. This is NOT ALLOWED as this usage actively markets their business for commercial gain, they must contact us as this falls under a separate agreement between us and them.
• Under NO CIRCUMSTANCE should you deliver any High-Resolution un-watermarked image to a supplier.
• Can I supply my photos to my venue?
All limitations that apply to suppliers also apply to Venues. As award winning photographers we believe should a venue wish to use our imagery to generate income on a permanent basis they should pay for the imagery or add us to their recommended supplier list. Quid pro quo. If they love our images enough to use in their marketing strategy its only right they recommend us to their clients.
• We're Eloping? Do you cover Elopements?
Elopements with Sawyer and Sawyer Photography are 100% bespoke as every single one is different. Please arrange for a coffee and a chat to work out exactly what you need. Simple answer; Yes. We cover Elopements.
• Do you have a Second Photographer?
Yes. We have access to brilliant photographers who we trust to capture beautiful images. A second photographer can be an excellent addition to your coverage. The second photographer’s main role is to focus on guests, details and spontaneous expressions, emotions and feelings. Not that the lead photographer isn't doing this also but sometimes the lead photographer can be busy setting lights up etc for Epic creative photos, 1st dance reception lighting etc.
• Digital Manipulation.
We will NOT edit a photo to alter the appearance of a person. We all have something we don’t like etc. Remember YOUR AMAZING and YOU ROCK. Be happy in your skin and BE AWESOME. We WILL edit your photos professionally. We just won’t manipulate them to convey a false perspective of your body or anyone else.
We unfortunately DO NOT add or remove people from photos. The task is often very complicated, never looks natural, takes hours of time, unaffordable and we simply do not have the time. We hate to say NO to anything but we have to on these points.
WHY A STAG AS YOUR LOGO?
As part of my 2020 rebrand, I wanted to revamp our logo to better reflect our interests, brand editing and the union of marriage.
After lots of ideas and research I fell in love with the Stag. We love nature, the countryside, mountains, and walks not to mention photographing weddings in the great outdoors is awesome. Deer/stags are also represented throughout our local area, notably Raby Castle where we take our children every year for their Santa visit.
The stag is also the king of the forest and symbolises harmony, happiness, peace and longevity… 4 elements that embodies marriage.
