Offering Lake District wedding photography is a pleasure and during a wedding there are time constraints which have to be negotiated in order to maximise the best possible photos. I decided I wanted to create some beautiful lake district wedding photographs for my website and social media to showcase my services, skills and business in general. I contacted Amber and Matt who’s wedding I photographed 6 months prior to this photo shoot. They were offered the photo shoot completely free of charge. They live nearby to myself and consider them friends so we planned to set up camp at Pooley Bridge and head off around the lakes over 2 days capturing images.
I arrived on the Friday and pitched the tent, followed by Amber and Matt. Once ready we set off to Walla Crag in Keswick with views over Derwentwater and Cat Bells, I had already confirmed where the sunset would be and knew the location I had picked would yield beautiful photos. We hiked to near the top and set up the equipment whilst getting changed into wedding attire. Once the shoot was finished we headed back to camp for food and a few beers.
The next morning, 5am. We woke to the sounds of birds and a clear blue sky. Then shoot was at the end of March so to have 2 days of glorious weather, we were very lucky. Amber and Matt dressed into their wedding attire and we took a short drive around the other side of Ullswater to a local jetty to catch the sunrise. The images came out great and the timing was perfect as the sky eventually became rather plain and boring once we finished. We headed back to camp for breakfast and to relax for a bit.
Once we were ready we set off to Grubbins Point which is located on the banks of Lake Windermere. The trees were still bare and would of made for better photos has there been some green on the trees, yet, the images still look great and it was worth the drive. We then went for lunch The Wateredge Inn, one of my favourite pub/restaurants and locations; Ambleside. We then decided to travel back over to Keswick and hike to the top of Cat Bells for a final photo shoot. Having summited the hike, we then realised Cat Bells was the next peak over and would take another 20 minutes so we decided to stay where we were and start shooting. Amber and Matt got changed once again and we had many chats with walkers congratulating them on their marriage. We did tell them it was just a photo shoot and they were married 6 months ago haha.
After that we packed up the camp into the car and headed off home for a nice hot bath.
I really hope you have enjoyed viewing this beautiful Lake District wedding photo shoot featuring Amber & Matt.
