Wow! What a year.
My 1st full year as a Professional Wedding Photographer! Below you will find my favourite photos from 2018 what a year it has been. I photographed an awesome 38 weddings, delivering over 30,000 photos to my very happy couples. *Approx 1.5% of delivered Images are below.
Although being a Durham wedding photographer my work has taken me to some fantastic places. Places such as Newcastle, Northumberland, the glorious Lake District, York, Chesterfield, Middlesbrough and so many places in between. Along the way I have won numerous awards and was crowned the Yorkshire and North East Wedding Photographer of the Year 2019 in the Newcomer category at The Wedding Industry Awards.
I’d like to take a second to thank all of my wonderful couples for their efforts. Without your patience and co-operation the Images I produce would not be possible, so, thank you!
During the year there are a lot of moments that stick with you. Laughter, joy, tears, it can be a whirlwind. Yet, trying to think of the best moment from the entire year is really tough.
I wouldn’t say I have a best moment as each and every wedding is unique with special quirks, guests, venues etc. Pin pointing 1 moment in thousands is super tough. I think my journey to the Lake District in the summer for 3 days was a high point this year though. I shot the wonderful engagement shoot of Kirsty and James at Aira Force then went to the hotel with them to watch the World Cup Semi Final at the Inn On The Lake. The glorious sunshine, Ullswater and the backdrop of mountains, and then of course capture their special day 24 hours later was superb. It was a fantastic few days. Loved it! Unfortunately I am a little biased though as the Lake District is mine and my wife’s favourite place. Being a wedding photographer is truly rewarding.
Working hard throughout the Autumn/Winter weddings this year proved to be very nice also as the weather played ball with just about all of them. I loved capturing the wedding of Sarah & Lewis as I went to secondary school with Sarah, so it was an absolute pleasure to create some brilliant photos for her. I was also super proud to photograph Laura and Philips wedding as I went to college with Laura.
2018 for me personally was a brilliant year. I got to see the beautiful birth of my daughter; Elodie. Thankfully I wasn’t out shooting a wedding ha-ha. I also worked super hard at all of my weddings and produced some ‘EPIC’ imagery which won awards. Always nice to be recognised. As I work for myself, I’m also very fortunate to have the opportunity of going to my sons’ primary school for things like sports days, stay and play and even just taking him to school or picking him up sometimes as a treat rather than the school bus which is really nice.
Well 2019 sees me having a nice break from weddings at the beginning of the year, as my first wedding isn’t until Valentine’s day. The break is welcomed as after Valentine’s day I have close to 50 weddings to capture so it will be a very busy year ahead. I’m looking forward to working at some wonderful venues that I have photographed at before and some that will be a new experience for me. I’ll be back at the Lake District again too, yippee. 2020 Is already filling up too so if your reading this and getting married in 2020, get in touch.
Again one more quick thank you to all my 2018 brides and grooms, I am honoured to say I have a friend in all of you. Such wonderful amazing people. Thank You!
